| Beetles are the largest group of insects, representing
one fifth of all living organisms and one fourth
of all animals. Since the Permian period, about
240 million years ago, beetles have evolved into
the most varied and astounding species found in
nature with such a wide array of
colors and forms. Their diversity eloquently
extends beyond the physical and encompasses strategies
of behavior, defense, reproduction, adaptation,
and has been appreciated since the time of the
Pharaohs which has given rise to many myths and
legends about them. Most framed beetles come
with two or more beetles to allow the
viewer to see the different and unique characteristics
of each beetle. |
