Bird spiders were already alive even before
dinosaurs became extinct! Their name comes from
the fact that they have been known to eat small
birds. Many bird spiders are also named as such
because when the string down off of a tree they
spread their hairy legs and float to the ground
like a parachutist, or bird. Bird eating spiders
are one of the largest species of spiders on earth.
