The Malagasy Lunar Moth from Madagascar is
huge, not only does it sport a hefty 8" wing
span but it wields a long 6" tail.
Like its American cousin it is born without a
mouth and has just two weeks to find a mate before
it literally starves to death. The American Luna
or Lunar Moth has a wingspan of 3 to 4 1/4 inches
(7.5-10.8 cm) in commonly in nature. Males and
females are similar in appearance, but the antennae
of the males is more feathery. |
