Grasshoppers

| Grasshoppers are known for there ability
to leap long distances as well as for their musical
abilities. They make music by rubbing the inside
of their hind leg (femora) against their abdomen
in order to produce a scraping or chirping sound.
Another interesting fact about grasshoppers is
that the females have two pairs of valves (triangular
in shape) at the end of their abdomen that they
use to dig in the sand when they are laying eggs.
One of the most noticeable attributes of all grasshoppers
is their beautiful wing colorations and that they
have long and powerful thin legs. This photo frame
of two assorted grasshoppers will make an excellent
