This is a likely match up, considering
that scorpions do in fact prey on centipedes and
can paralyze them with one strike of their
stinger. For a Centipede to counterattack it will
use its first body segment that happens to bear
a modified pair of legs, the strong joints of which
terminates in a sharp claw that, when clenched,
opens a poisonous gland.
