Spare
Monarch Butterfly Wings |
 |
|
| The orange wings of the Monarch
butterfly makes it one of the most popular and
colorful of all butterfly species. Our spare
Monarch butterfly wings are also great for people
who are collecting other insects and butterflies
for school projects, personal entomon (Latin word
for insect) collections and school science projects.
Each wing is UV and moisture resistant to help
it endure the elements and provide for color fading
resistance. In the event one of your wings gets
damaged or lost it is very easy to replace them
since they can be separated from the insect body
without much difficulty .Wherever you find milkweed
and related plants you will most surely find
Monarch butterflies. Milkweed provides
the Monarch with an intriguing form of protection,
since milkweed juice is assimilated by Monarchs
and makes them poisonous to predatory birds. Not
all milkweed plants produce cardiac glycosides,
therefore not all Monarchs are poisonous. The
beautiful orange wings of Monarch butterflies serve
to teach predators that their intended meal may
very well be toxic. The orange color serves as
a warning and disguises poisonous from the non-poisonous
Monarchs. Our selection of butterfly wings look
remarkably similar to live monarchs! (We do
not recommend they be eaten either.) |
